“Give yourself permission to allow this moment to be exactly as it is, and allow yourself to be exactly as you are.” Jon Kabat-Zinn
For International Self Care Day, you could give yourself a gift that you don’t need to go out of your way to get, and it costs nothing: self acceptance. It’s not wrong to want to make improvements or reach for goals, but even before you make those improvements or meet those goals, can you love and accept yourself right where you are?
Jon Kabat-Zinn incorporates Eastern traditions into clinically proven Western medicine. He teaches mindfulness practices that give wise and affectionate attention to what is: the thoughts in our mind, our feelings and our body sensations. In mindfulness meditation, we’re invited to suspend judgement, to approach our experience with curiosity, kindness and warmth towards ourselves and others. Taking this practice beyond the meditation cushion, we can practice mindfulness in any aspect of our lives from washing the dishes to speaking at a podium by being fully present and breathing spaciousness into each experience. And remember your nonjudgemental self acceptance!
HAPPY INTERNATIONAL SELF CARE DAY!
